My my My my

Prince Fredrick Eagles’ Families, Fans, Friends, and Players,

I am introducing myself as the 2016 Prince Fredrick Eagles Lacrosse Coordinator. My name is Ryan Hunsicker and have been involved with the organization for over 3 years. I have coached at the U13 and U15 level, while continuing to coach at Calvert High School at the same time.

I was born and raised in Calvert County and moved back after my years at college. I graduated from Patuxent High School in 2006 where I was able to compete with a team that won two SMAC championships.  I played at York College of Pennsylvania as a walk on. I finished on at the club level after deciding school was more important to my future. Upon graduating from York College, I attended Wheeling Jesuit University earning my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.

Our goals for this season are 1) to have fun as that is what it is all about any way; 2) help give these boys the best lacrosse and life lessons to allow them to grow not only into great lacrosse players, but also extraordinary young men; 3) be and remain a competitive lacrosse program;  4)  provide a group effort from coaches, players, volunteers, and families.

I want nothing but to give back to the community where I grew up and received so much, but to also give these boys a role model, not only in myself, but also with everyone involved in Prince Frederick Eagles Lacrosse. I am well aware of the challenges that face not only the growth of Lacrosse in this area, but also the growth of the youth.

I would like to take this time to thank you for all everyone contributes, but we need more! We need more coaches, more players, and more commitment. In the 3 years I coached there has been a small number of volunteers. It is irrelevant if you have no lacrosse knowledge or years of experience, we would love for you to step up and help this program grow. We can grow new coaches, even with no knowledge. We have, and will continue, to provide a PFE coaches clinic for new or interested coaches at Calvert High School, as well as any other Parent looking to increase lacrosse knowledge.  We will also continue to partner with Calvert High School Lacrosse for clinics, conditioning, and game day events.

Since this is my first year in this role with PFE, if you have any feedback to improve our organization I am open to it, as I will share thoughts and insights as well.  This will be true for all coaches, players, parents, and families.  We must never forgot we are here for the boys, and since I do not have any children of my own yet, I am truly in this for all of yours.

Rob Kimmel will be our Assistant Lacrosse Coordinator and shall be a great assistance to program, especially with my involvement at the High School level.  My time will be even more spread now during Lacrosse season taking this new role, but I am very excited to increase my involvement with the younger players!

We will be competing this winter in an indoor league as years past at Charlotte Hall in St. Mary’s. If you have not yet registered, please go and click on the on-line registration to sign your son up. This is a great opportunity to keep active during the winter and work on stick skills until Spring arrives.

Let’s go EAGLES!!!!

Thank You,

Dr. Ryan Hunsicker
