Welcome to 2010 Season for Prince Frederick Eagle’s cheerleading!!!
This year is going to be a new and rewarding year for both cheerleaders and cheer coaches.  We have lots of new and innovative ideas planned and hope that you will join us for this eventful season.

Here is some basic information for both returning and new cheerleaders.

Season info:

Our season runs from August to approximately November, ending with the cheer competition at Huntingtown High School.

Our regular cheer season is typically 8 to 10 games, followed by playoffs (for those teams that qualify).  Playoffs begin about the second weekend of November.  Championship games typically are the third weekend of November.  If a football team makes Championship, the respective cheer team will need to cheer.

Game schedules:
Team schedules will be made available approximately the 2nd week of practice.  Most games are played on Saturdays.  However, teams may play Wednesday evening games.  In the case of game cancellations, PFE will notify the respective coaches/teams about rescheduling.  Note—no games will be scheduled during Labor Day weekend.

Practices:
August 2nd at 6:00pm at Calvert Elementary will be the official Cheer “meet and greet.”  The first night of practice for cheer will be August 9th at Calvert Elementary.  Days of the week for practice per team will be determined by then.

Starting the week of September 21st, 2010 we will move our practices to Hallowing Point Park.  October 4th practice will be moved indoors at various local elementary and middle schools.  That schedule is received from Parks & Rec. The week of October 4th, 2010 we will shorten practices to two nights per week (schedule TBD).

Cheer Equipment:
PFE will provide uniforms to all cheer before the Kickoff Classic on August 21st.  Each cheerleader must purchase a hair bow, cheer socks and poms.  These items will be ordered through PFE but are required.    Each cheerleader must have black kick pants (briefs), black midriff turtleneck, and white tennis shoes. These items are to be provided by the cheerleader, PFE is only responsible for the uniform and the ordering of socks, hair bows, and poms.

Game day:
Please arrive with your child one half hour prior to the start of your scheduled game.  Please make every effort to respect the coaches and cheerleaders by being on-time.  Additionally this is your child’s time to shine!!!  Please cheer your children on!  Be loud, be proud!  But above all be respectful.  All parents, cheerleaders, and coaches must sign personal conduct forms.  We expect all concerned to act accordingly.  If you cannot act in accordance w/our policy, you will be asked to leave the game/practice/event area immediately.  If necessary we will contact law enforcement agencies.

Visit our fields link to get directions to each of the respective club’s fields.

Our philosophy:
We first and foremost wish to provide a safe and fun environment for your children.  Secondly our intent is to teach and instruct young women the basic fundamentals of cheerleading.  Lastly, we want to ensure good sportsmanship.  At times we may lose perspective, but please do your best to conduct yourselves accordingly and act in adherence to our tenants.  All of our coaches, team moms, elected and appointed board members are strictly volunteers; please respect our efforts.

Parent and cheerleader concerns:
If you have an issue that needs to be addressed, please attempt to speak w/your coach first. If that is not an option or does not resolve the issue, please see our PAC (Parent Advisory Committee) Chairperson.  The PAC Chair will then take whatever necessary steps to address the issue. Please make every attempt to use this process if the need arises.

What can I do to help my child be a better player?
The most important aspect of being a parent or guardian of a cheerleader is to show your support each and every time they perform or practice.  A simple pat on the back, hug, and words of encouragement go a long way to help a child improve.  Be supportive at all times!

I don’t know much about cheer—how can I help my child?
Start with understanding the basic rules of cheer.  Coaches are also a great resource—ask them prior to practices if you have questions.

I would like to volunteer; how can I help?
We are completely dependent on volunteers to maintain our organization.  Are organization is only as good as our volunteers.  If you would like to assist in anyway, please contact our Cheer Coordinator, Theresa Brenner, at or our Assistant Cheer Coordinator, Shannon Wilcox at .  We can always use a helping hand at practices, games, and events.  If you wish to participate as a coach, you must complete a background check form and complete an online course; NO EXCEPTIONS.  See your coach if you have additional questions.  Note—parents, friends and family members are NOT permitted on practice or game fields while practices or games are being held.

How do I find out if my game or practice has been cancelled?
The Prince Frederick Eagles hotline is 410-414-9911.  During the season we update the hotline w/current information regarding practices, games, and events.  You can also visit our website and/or contact your respective coach.  At times we will also send mass email to all of our membership. If you also wish to receive text message alerting you of notices, please send email to
